Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG), a leading green coffee service group, is taking significant strides towards a more sustainable coffee industry with its NKG Verified initiative. This initiative exemplifies NKG’s commitment to integrity and responsibility throughout the coffee supply chain, bridging the gap between coffee growers and buyers.

NKG Verified, part of NKG’s Responsible Business Program, aims to enhance sustainability performance within the supply chains while offering consumers the opportunity to enjoy coffee sourced through sustainable and ethical practices. The program, first launched in Brazil by NKG Stockler in 2021, provides traceable coffees from farms that meet specific criteria related to forests, ecosystems, labor practices, pricing, waste management, and more.

Since its inception, NKG Verified has expanded to 10 countries, impacting over 30,000 farmers and is set to establish new supply chains in Costa Rica and Tanzania. The initiative ensures compliance with the Global Coffee Platform’s Coffee Sustainability Reference Code, providing stakeholders with a framework for sustainable coffee production.

Each coffee shipment through NKG Verified comes with a transaction certificate and sustainability report, with annual internal audits and external audits every three years to track performance. The initiative covers the entire supply chain, from farm to export-ready container, ensuring transparency and accountability at every step.

NKG Verified has been recognized by the Global Coffee Platform as equivalent to the Coffee Sustainability Reference Code, providing customers with assurance of sustainable sourcing practices. Additionally, NKG Bloom, another global initiative by NKG, focuses on improving smallholders’ livelihoods and has also been recognized for its sustainability efforts.

Both NKG Verified and NKG Bloom align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and support green coffee buyers in meeting legal obligations related to sustainability.
