Patrick Akorli, Former GOIL Boss, Recognized at Ghana Downstream Awards

Mr Patrick Akpe Kwame Akorli Honored at Ghana Downstream Awards and Gala Night

Mr Patrick Akpe Kwame Akorli, the former Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of GOIL PLC, was honored for his exceptional contributions to Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector at the prestigious Ghana Downstream Awards and Gala Night in Accra.

The event, which marked the culmination of the 2024 Ghana International Petroleum Conference (GHiPCon), was organized by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) in collaboration with the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distribution (CBOD) and the Association of Oil and Marketing Companies (AOMC), under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy.

Mr Akorli, who had a long and distinguished career at GOIL PLC, joined the company in 1994 and held various positions before becoming the MD and Group CEO in 2012. He later served as the Chairman of the GOIL Group of Companies, focusing on GO Energy, a subsidiary of GOIL, until his retirement in 2019.

During his tenure, GOIL PLC experienced significant growth, expanded its network, and improved customer satisfaction. Mr Akorli’s visionary leadership, innovative strategies, and commitment to excellence were recognized at the awards ceremony.

In addition to Mr Akorli, other industry professionals were also honored at the event, including Mr Gyamfi Amanquah, Managing Director of GO Energy, Mr Yaw Agyeman Duah, former GOIL MD, and the late Mr Alex Josiah Adzew, former Chief Operating Officer of GOIL.

GOIL PLC and GO Energy were also recognized for their outstanding contributions to the petroleum downstream sector, with GO Energy being named the Bulk Import Distribution and Export Company of the Year.

In response to the awards, the Public Relations Manager of GOIL, Mr Robert Kyere, expressed gratitude for the recognition and dedicated the awards to the company’s customers and staff. He emphasized GOIL’s commitment to exceeding customer expectations and maintaining high-quality standards in the industry.

Overall, the Ghana Downstream Awards and Gala Night highlighted the achievements and contributions of key players in the petroleum industry, promoting best practices, excellence, and healthy competition within the sector.
