PSC Union Responds: Calls for Forensic Audit in Response to Corruption Allegations in Police Recruitment

Joint Union of the Staff of the Police Service Commission Dismisses Allegations of Irregularities in 2022 Constable Recruitment Process

The Joint Union of the Staff of the Police Service Commission (PSC) has vehemently denied allegations of irregularities and corruption in the 2022 Constable Recruitment Process made by the Nigeria Police Force. In a press release, the PSC Union refuted claims by the Police, labeling them as diversionary tactics and a violation of the Nigerian Constitution.

According to the PSC Union, the recruitment process was conducted with integrity, and the JAMB CBT results used were endorsed by a recruitment board comprising senior police officials and stakeholders. The Union highlighted past instances of interference by the Police, including the submission of a separate list of candidates without the Board’s knowledge.

In response to the allegations, the PSC Union has called for a forensic audit of the JAMB CBT results and invited independent investigations into any financial dealings or corrupt practices. They have reaffirmed their commitment to transparency and accountability in the recruitment process, vowing not to succumb to blackmail or threats.

The ongoing power struggle between the PSC and the Nigeria Police Force over recruitment authority has significant implications for the credibility of the nation’s law enforcement agencies. The dispute underscores the need for a resolution to ensure the integrity of the recruitment process and maintain public trust in the Police Force.
