Workiva Introduces New Global Internal Audit Standards to Audit Management Platform

Workiva Incorporates Global Internal Audit Standards into GRC Solutions Platform

Workiva Inc. Leads the Way in GRC Solutions with Integration of Global Internal Audit Standards

Workiva Inc., a leading provider of integrated reporting solutions, has made a groundbreaking move by incorporating the latest Global Internal Audit Standards into its platform. This makes Workiva the first SaaS company to offer the newest standards as part of its suite of governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) solutions.

The Global Internal Audit Standards, released by the Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA), are designed to equip internal audit professionals with the tools they need to address emerging business challenges and collaborate effectively with board members and executives as strategic partners for their organizations.

Nitin Bhat, Chief Product Officer at Workiva, highlighted the significance of this integration, stating, “Our customers can now leverage IIA standards directly within the Workiva platform, streamlining their adoption and replacing disparate tracking systems and outdated spreadsheets with one single source of truth and automated reports.”

The addition of the Global Internal Audit Standards to the Workiva platform follows a series of innovative investments, including the integration of CDP questionnaires, features leveraging generative AI, and the recent launch of Workiva Carbon, a solution that simplifies climate disclosures and carbon footprint calculations for reporting teams.

The new Global Internal Audit Standards represent a comprehensive update to the previous standards issued in 2017, offering guidance on critical areas such as cybersecurity and sustainability. The flexible framework is adaptable for auditors worldwide, with the new standards set to become effective in January 2025.

Anthony Pugliese, President and CEO of The Institute of Internal Auditors, expressed excitement about Workiva’s commitment to incorporating the new standards, emphasizing the benefits for internal audit professionals in streamlining processes and enhancing strategic value within their organizations.

By working within the Workiva platform, customers can adopt and track conformance with the Global Internal Audit Standards in a secure workspace, enabling real-time updates, automation of documentation processes, and significant time savings on audits and assessments.

The integration of the new standards builds on Workiva’s longstanding relationship with The IIA, with the company serving as a Principal Partner and ESG Alliance Partner. Workiva will be participating in The IIA’s annual International Conference in Washington, D.C., where they will lead sessions on sustainability and engage with thousands of internal audit professionals.
