Sumer Acquires DPC Chartered Accountants: Expanding Presence in the UK Market
Sumer Continues Expansion with Acquisition of DPC Chartered Accountants
Mid-market accountancy group Sumer has added another feather to its cap with the acquisition of DPC Chartered Accountants, marking its eleventh acquisition in the UK. Founded 80 years ago, DPC is based in Stoke-on-Trent and boasts a 50% female partner ratio. The firm offers a wide range of services including audit, accounts, tax advice, compliance counsel, payroll, and other business services.
Sumer, which now has more than 40 offices and over 1,300 colleagues in the UK, has been on a rapid growth trajectory since its launch in 2023. With the backing of Penta Capital and BlackRock, the company has set its sights on forming regional hubs focused on serving the SME market.
The addition of DPC strategically positions Sumer between its existing hubs in the Midlands and North West, enhancing its coverage and reach in the region. Warren Mead, CEO of Sumer, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “DPC dominates the accounting sector in Staffordshire, an area with huge potential for economic growth. With DPC’s established roots and solid reputation, combined with our reach and scale, we can help local businesses prosper.”
Michelle Coates, Director at DPC Accountants, also shared her enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the shared values between the two firms. “Sumer embodies ethics that closely mirror our own, particularly their exemplary record in championing diversity and supporting SMEs. This synergy makes them an ideal partner for us, as we continue to excel and advocate for Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas.”
The acquisition of DPC Chartered Accountants is another milestone for Sumer as it continues to expand its presence and services across the UK, solidifying its position as a leading player in the mid-market accountancy sector.
