The Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, has called on stakeholders to prioritize the successful implementation of the National Anti-corruption Strategy (NACS) 2022-2026 Action Plan.

During a one-day Validation Meeting of the Reviewed National Anti-corruption Strategy (NACS) 2022-2026 Action Plan in Abuja, Fagbemi commended the committee for their dedication and financial support in reviewing the previous Action Plan.

He emphasized the importance of all participants understanding and implementing the objectives and strategies outlined in the draft NACS Action Plan. Fagbemi urged organizations to fully commit to the Action Plan to combat corruption effectively.

Furthermore, Fagbemi challenged anti-corruption agencies to take decisive action against local government chairmen who misuse public funds. He acknowledged the efforts of stakeholders and donor partners in the fight against corruption.

Head of the Technical Unit on Governance and Anti-corruption Reforms (TUGAR), Mrs Jane Onwumere, highlighted the significance of the National Anti-corruption Strategy in aligning with the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC). She emphasized the need for the Action Plan to be implemented to reduce corruption in Nigeria.

The meeting aimed to establish structures for the successful implementation of the Strategy, building on legislative achievements such as the Money Laundering Act and the Terrorism Prevention Act.

Overall, the AGF’s call for stakeholders to prioritize the implementation of the NACS Action Plan underscores the government’s commitment to combating corruption and promoting transparency in Nigeria.
