ICAN commits to constructing state-of-the-art offices for emerging accountants

ICAN Sokoto District Society to Construct Modern Secretariats for Young Accountants

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Sokoto District Society, covering Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, has announced plans to build modern secretariats to support young accountants in the region.

Alhaji Ismaeel Oluwaseun Suleiman, the newly appointed Chairman of the Sokoto District Society, revealed the initiative during a recent event in Birnin Kebbi. He disclosed that prime land has been acquired in Birnin Kebbi and Sokoto for the construction of the secretariats and study centers. Suleiman emphasized the importance of collaboration with ICAN’s national body and state governments to ensure the buildings meet high standards.

The construction of these modern facilities aims to provide aspiring accountants with easy access to information and resources, ultimately enhancing their growth and development. Additionally, the registration of the District’s Study Centre name has paved the way for the commencement of lectures, which is expected to increase the number of Chartered Accountants in the region.

Suleiman also outlined various initiatives to strengthen community relations, enhance member welfare, and promote youth engagement within the district. He stressed the importance of unity among members to achieve these goals and encouraged active participation from all members to foster a sense of belonging and collective purpose.

During the event, the outgoing Chairman, Alhaji Sanni Yusuf Olatunji, commended the efforts of the former executive members and urged them to continue supporting the new administration. The Special Guest, Chief of Staff to the Kebbi State Governor, Barrister Attairu Maccido, lauded ICAN for their professionalism and ethical standards in the accounting field, highlighting their contributions to Nigeria’s economic development.

Maccido also urged ICAN to conduct professional examinations for accounting students in Kebbi State and assured the state government’s support in enrolling students for these examinations. The commitment of ICAN to building modern facilities and enhancing the development of young accountants in the region reflects their dedication to excellence and growth in the accounting profession.
