Spirit Airlines Names Brian McMenamy as Interim Chief Financial Officer
Spirit Airlines Appoints Brian McMenamy as Interim CFO Amid Leadership Transition
In a recent announcement, Spirit Airlines has named Vice President and Controller Brian McMenamy as Interim Chief Financial Officer, effective June 14, 2024. McMenamy will be taking over from Scott Haralson, who is departing to become the CFO of car rental company Hertz Global Holdings.
With nearly four decades of experience in corporate finance, McMenamy joined Spirit in 2017 and has held various roles in finance at American Airlines prior to that. Spirit plans to launch a comprehensive search for a permanent CFO with the assistance of a leading executive search firm.
Spirit’s President and CEO, Ted Christie, expressed gratitude for Scott Haralson’s leadership and contributions over his eleven years with the airline. Christie also expressed confidence in McMenamy’s ability to take on the role of Interim CFO, citing his extensive financial expertise in the airline industry.
The leadership transition comes at a challenging time for Spirit Airlines, as the ultra-low-cost carrier has been making changes such as reducing international service and dropping change and cancellation fees. Despite these challenges, Spirit remains focused on driving growth and positioning the company for a return to profitability.
