BRG Expands Its Presence in APAC by Opening New Office in Bangkok and Introducing a Forensic Investigations Team

BRG Expands Global Presence with New Office in Bangkok to Strengthen Forensic Investigations in Southeast Asia

Global consulting firm Berkeley Research Group (BRG) has announced the opening of its new office in Bangkok, Thailand, marking a significant expansion of its forensic investigations and consulting services in Southeast Asia. The new office, aimed at serving as a hub for the Mekong countries, will complement BRG’s existing operations in Singapore and the wider Asia-Pacific region. This strategic move underscores BRG’s commitment to addressing the growing demand for expert forensic accounting, eDiscovery, and cyber forensics services in the region.

The Bangkok office will be led by Managing Director Vorapong Sutanont, who brings over two decades of experience in forensic investigations across the ASEAN region. Together with a team of specialists, Sutanont will focus on complex corporate investigations, cybercrime, fraud risk management, and governance, enhancing BRG’s capabilities in Southeast Asia.

This expansion aligns with BRG’s global strategy to deepen its expertise in economics, disputes and investigations, and to provide comprehensive support to multinational and local clients facing complex challenges. The firm’s commitment to the Asia-Pacific region is further evidenced by the recent addition of senior experts in the United States and the continuous growth of its global network.

BRG’s presence in Bangkok is expected to play a crucial role in improving corporate governance and combating corruption and misconduct in the region, leveraging the firm’s international experience and local knowledge to offer unparalleled forensic investigation services.

BRG Expands Its Global Reach with New Bangkok Office and Forensic Investigations Team

Bangkok, July 16, 2024 – Berkeley Research Group (BRG), a leading global expert services and consulting firm, has unveiled its latest strategic expansion with the opening of a new office in Bangkok, Thailand. This move is accompanied by the significant addition of a forensic investigations team, led by the esteemed Managing Director Vorapong Sutanont, marking a pivotal step in BRG’s ongoing global growth and its commitment to forensic accounting and investigations worldwide.

The establishment of the Bangkok office is a testament to BRG’s dedication to serving its Southeast Asian clients more directly, complementing its existing presence in Singapore and the broader Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The new office is poised to become a central hub for the Mekong countries, enhancing BRG’s ability to meet the growing demand for expert services in this dynamic and rapidly evolving market.

Vorapong Sutanont brings over two decades of experience to BRG, having previously led risk-consulting practices at Big Four consulting firms across the US and ASEAN. His expertise spans complex corporate investigations, cybercrime, fraud risk management, and governance, making him a valuable leader for BRG’s new forensic investigations initiative in Thailand. Sutanont’s team, including Director Arisra Panuvatvanich and supported by BRG professionals like Joel Woodward, a specialist in valuation and damages in international arbitration, aims to set a new standard for forensic investigations in the region.

Mustafa Hadi, the leader of BRG’s Asia-Pacific region, emphasized the strategic importance of the Bangkok office, stating, "The addition of a dedicated office in Bangkok greatly bolsters BRG’s longstanding offering in APAC with a highly qualified group of leading experts in the forensic investigations space." He highlighted the office’s role in expanding BRG’s capabilities in Southeast Asia and its potential to connect BRG experts across the firm with an extensive local network and deep regional knowledge base.

The Bangkok office will focus on growing BRG’s bench of experts in the region and supporting the expansion of the firm’s Economics, Disputes & Investigations practice. This includes enhancing its forensic accounting, eDiscovery, and cyber forensics service lines to meet the increasing client demand and addressing the critical need for improved corporate governance and anti-corruption measures in the corporate sector.

Reflecting on the opportunity to join BRG, Sutanont expressed his enthusiasm for contributing to the firm’s mission to build a leading forensic investigations practice in Thailand and the wider Southeast Asian region. "It’s critical for the corporate health of the region to improve corporate governance and crack down on corruption and misconduct," he said.

Tri MacDonald, BRG’s Principal Executive Officer and President, noted that the Bangkok office follows the firm’s successful launches in Brussels and Paris last year. He hinted at further expansion plans, underscoring BRG’s commitment to ensuring depth and breadth in key locations worldwide.

As BRG continues to expand its global footprint, the new Bangkok office and forensic investigations team represent a significant milestone in the firm’s mission to provide inspired insights and practical strategies to its clients, helping them stay ahead of what’s next.
