Born on August 13, 1944, in Venice, Florida, to John Barraclough and Ida Jadels, John Jr. was a man of exceptional intellect and warmth. His journey from a high school graduate of Bernalillo High to earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from New Mexico State University in 1966, is a testament to his dedication and hard work.
In 1985, Barraclough founded Barraclough & Associates P.C., a firm that quickly became synonymous with integrity, excellence, and compassion in the field of accounting. Under his leadership, the firm not only prospered but also became a family to its employees and clients alike. His laughter and generosity of spirit made every interaction memorable, turning professional relationships into lifelong friendships.
Barraclough’s commitment to his profession was paralleled by his dedication to his community. He served as Treasurer for the Foundation for Santa Maria El Mirador, significantly impacting the lives of many in Northern New Mexico. His advisory role at Allan Houser, Inc., further showcased his commitment to supporting local arts and culture. Moreover, his philanthropic efforts, especially his generous donations to nonprofit organizations, underscored his belief in giving back to the community that he loved.
John’s personal life was filled with as much love and dedication as his professional one. He married Nancy Novelle White in 1966, and together they adopted five children, creating a loving and vibrant family. Despite the loss of his daughter Johnyce and his wives Nancy and Deborah, John’s spirit never wavered, and he remained a source of strength and inspiration for his family.
John is survived by his children Joel, Johnyne, Johntel, and Jaimie, and his cherished grandchildren Lexi, Rose, Greyson, Anastasia, Riley, and Zoey, who were the light of his life. His legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will live on through them.
Services to celebrate John’s remarkable life will be held at First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner, NM, on August 31 at 11 AM.
